Wind Drift Calculator

Build quick wind cards with MOA and MIL holds based on your bullet weight, BC, and the wind you expect to see.

Enter average muzzle velocity for this load in feet per second, preferably measured with your firearm.
Enter the projectile weight from the bullet manufacturer. It is used to calculate remaining energy.
Enter the published BC for the exact projectile and match it to the selected G1 or G7 drag model.

Match the BC to the selected drag model.

Choose the same reference drag model used for the entered BC. G1 and G7 BC numbers for one bullet are different.
Enter the confirmed distance where bullet path and line of sight intersect. This establishes the trajectory solution.
Set the farthest range for the wind table and summary results.
Set the spacing between range-card rows. For example, 100 produces entries at each 100-yard interval.
Enter the estimated average wind speed along the bullet path. This is converted to a crosswind component using the angle.
Angle relative to the line of fire: 0 or 180 degrees contributes no crosswind; 90 degrees is full value.

0° = headwind/tailwind, 90° = full-value crosswind.

Crosswind componentThe full wind speed multiplied by the sine of the entered angle. This is the portion that drives horizontal drift.
Drift at max rangeEstimated horizontal bullet displacement at the maximum selected distance.
Hold (MOA)Wind correction at maximum range in minutes of angle. Hold or dial opposite the direction the wind moves the bullet.
Hold (MIL)Wind correction at maximum range in milliradians. Hold or dial opposite the direction the wind moves the bullet.
Impact energyEstimated kinetic energy remaining at maximum range after drag-related velocity loss.
Time of flightEstimated elapsed time from muzzle exit to the maximum selected range.
