Density Altitude & Weather

Dial in ballistic solutions with quick density altitude checks, relative air density, and speed of sound calculations.

Enter current ambient air temperature at the shooting location, then choose degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius.

Use current on-range temperature.

Enter absolute atmospheric pressure measured at the field location. Do not use a sea-level-corrected weather or altimeter value.

Use absolute station pressure from an on-site weather meter.

Enter current relative humidity from 0 to 100 percent. It is used to estimate water-vapor contribution to air density.
Enter the shooting location elevation above mean sea level. It is used to show how far density altitude differs from the physical field elevation.
Density altitudeAltitude in the standard atmosphere with the same calculated air density as the current conditions.
Relative to fieldDensity altitude minus physical field elevation. Positive means the air behaves as though the location were higher.
Pressure altitudeStandard-atmosphere altitude corresponding to the entered station pressure before temperature and humidity correction.
Air densityCalculated moist-air mass per volume in kg/m3, followed by percentage of standard sea-level density.
Speed of soundEstimated local acoustic speed based on virtual air temperature. Useful for estimating when a bullet approaches transonic flight.
